WSL1: The season so far!

Womens Super League

The Women’s Super League Division one currently sees Manchester City sitting in top position with Chelsea hot on their heels!

Residing at the bottom of the league is Yeovil Town who are still yet to gain any points so far this season, having lost six out of six.

Manchester City have gone without a loss so far in the season so they are on fine form with their top scorer Isobel Christiansen on six goals, which will no doubt increase as the season continues to unfold.

Over the last few months there have been a storm of goals across matches in the league, which have seen Man City with a total of 24 goals for the season so far which is a number that can only get better.

As well as Manchester City and Chelsea, another team who have impressed so far this season is Liverpool, who have four wins out of six as they currently sit in third place in the league with twelve points, just four points from top.

The start of the year has seen many teams bringing in new players during the January transfer window.

Manchester City have signed Nadia Nadim from Portland Thorns and Julia Spetsmark from KIF Orebro, whilst second place Chelsea bring in Jonna Anderson from Linkopings and Anita Asante from Rosengard.

Struggling Yeovil haven’t brought in any players during the transfer window which could see them dip further into danger as they try to get a point on the board.

With the transfer window set to close on the 25th of January, teams will be looking to seal the best deals.

With new Manchester City signing, Nadia Nadim having made her debut for the club on the 4th of January, she is already getting a taste of what division one feels like having scored her first goal within six minutes of being on the pitch. With City being top of the table, she will no doubt start feeling the pressure soon.

The Manchester City ladies have had a great season so far, which they will no doubt be relishing in and hoping to continue their fantastic form this season.

Elsewhere in the women’s super league, Reading ladies suffered a recent 5-2 defeat to Man City, which saw their run of fine form cut short. Reading are now in sixth place in the table.

Chelsea are continuing to pile the pressure onto City as they were victorious against Arsenal on Sunday after putting two past the visitors. They sit just two points behind the leaders
