The WSL 2 is only seven games old but its already looking to be quite tight at both ends of the table and this weekend is set to provide an exciting weekend of action.
It all starts on Saturday with a bottom of the table clash as third bottom London Bees host bottom place Watford Ladies FC. Both sides have not made the start to the season they would be hoping for but is a great chance for London Bees to move further away from the bottom two or for Watford to get more points on the board and draw level on points with second bottom Aston Villa Ladies FC.
This is continued with a few mouth-watering games on Sunday, the first of which sees Millwall Lionesses host Durham Women FC in a second versus third match. The match could see The Lionesses move top of the table with a win and if Doncaster fail to beat Brighton. A win for Durham could see them draw a point behind Doncaster if they fail to win.
This is then followed by a mid-table clash between sixth-place Tottenham Hotspur Ladies who go away to seventh place Sheffield FC ladies. With just a point separating the sides going into the game it will see whoever wins the game move into fifth place if Oxford United Women slip up.
If this wasn’t enough to wet your appetite, the third game of the day is another cracker which sees top of the table Doncaster Rovers Belles entertain fourth place Brighton and Hove Albion women. The game could see the top four draw tighter if Brighton can beat Doncaster as it would mean Brighton would move just one point behind Doncaster with a win. But if Doncaster can get the three points they can keep their point lead over Millwall or potentially increase it if Millwall drops points against Durham.
The other game this week sees Oxford host second bottom Aston Villa. A win for Oxford could see them close the gap to fourth place Brighton if they drop points against Doncaster. A win for Aston Villa could see them move above London Bees if they drop points at Watford and also see Villa potentially move further clear of bottom place Watford.
One thing is for sure, it is set to be a decisive weekend in the WSL 2 where you could see the table look totally different come Sunday evening and it will certainly be exciting to see what unfolds.
